About the Faculty
The Faculty of Arts, Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences (LLSHS) is distinguished by its strong multidisciplinary approach, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration through the diversity of its teaching and research fields.
The LLSHS Faculty comprises eight departments, between which students can move according to their academic and career development plans. Enrolled students have access to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in literature, languages, arts, civilisations, and the humanities and social sciences, as well as continuing education opportunities. It aims to develop and promote knowledge and practice in these fields through the synergy of its teaching and research programs.
Research is conducted within a collaborative and ambitious framework, thanks to close links with laboratories both within and outside the SPN University, national and international research bodies and organisations, as well as with the socio-economic and cultural fabric and local authorities. The vitality of the research teams is reflected in their numerous publications and scientific events.
Committed to a policy of international openness, the Faculty welcomes many exchange students and offers numerous students the opportunity to enrich their education whilst developing their linguistic and cultural skills at partner universities abroad.

The Faculty Council and Committees
are charged with
► preparing and implementing the curriculum and academic policy in the fields of study and subject areas within their remit;
► organising and coordinating teaching activities across the academic departments;
► organising the monitoring and self-evaluation of the curriculum;
► to contribute to the professional integration and follow-up of graduates;
► to raise the profile of scientific fields (particularly at international level) and promote the dissemination of scientific work;
► to promote skills in the fields of arts and humanities.
The Faculty Council
The Faculty Council, chaired by the Director, is the Faculty’s decision-making and governing body. In accordance with the Education Code, it defines the Faculty’s overall strategy and sets out the broad guidelines for teaching, research and management. As a genuine deliberative body, it oversees academic and scientific activities and ensures the smooth running of the UFR’s administrative, financial and human resources. It adopts the proposed budget, approves the accounts and endorses the statutes and internal regulations, always in accordance with the legislation in force and the relevant university bodies.
The Educational Commission
The Teaching Committee focuses on the direction and structure of degree programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate. Consulted to provide strategic advice on all matters relating to the Faculty’s teaching, international and student life activities, it plays a role in several key areas:
► Coordination and development of the range of degree programmes: creation, modification and restructuring of courses.
► Harmonisation and pooling of teaching resources to ensure greater pedagogical consistency.
► Review and improvement of methods for assessing knowledge and skills (M3C).
► Monitoring of student success through key indicators.
► Continuous evaluation of teaching to ensure its quality.
► Analysis of the minutes of the academic development committees to optimise programmes.
Through its work, the Academic Committee ensures the quality and adaptability of the Faculty’s programmes to meet academic and professional challenges.
The Scientific Commission
The Scientific Committee is an advisory body comprising academic staff, heads of collaborative research platforms, administrative staff and PhD students.
It examines all matters relating to the organisation and direction of research within the Faculty. Consulted on all scientific and strategic issues, it meets regularly to issue informed opinions.
The Scientific Committee is involved in:
► Defining the Faculty’s scientific policy
► Promoting research work
► Funding opportunities and calls for proposals
► Links with doctoral schools and the University’s Research Committee
► Disseminating and promoting research to external partners
With its expertise, the Scientific Committee actively contributes to advancing LLSHS research and strengthening its impact.
